Remittance inflow hits eight-month low in June, FY26 receipts rise 17.3%

Bangladesh received its lowest monthly remittance inflow in eight months in June, with expatriates sending home $2.80 billion, according to data from the Bangladesh Bank.

It also marked the first time in six months that monthly remittance receipts fell below the $3 billion mark, confirmed Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and Executive Director Arief Hossain Khan today (1 July).

Despite the slowdown in June, remittance inflows for FY2025-26 reached a record $35.56 billion, registering a 17.3% year-on-year growth compared with the $30.33 billion received in the previous fiscal year.

In FY2024-25, Bangladesh received around $30.04 billion in remittances, representing a 25.5% increase over the preceding fiscal year.
