‎The newly joined Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range Md Mostafizur Rahman stressed the need for collective efforts of police in collusion with the mass-people of the society to curb anti-social activities and build a society free from crimes and drug abusing by improving the law and order situation at everywhere of the country.

‎He vowed to work together staying above politics and sought cooperation from all concerned in this regard.

DIG Mostafizur Rahman said this while addressing at a views exchange meeting with local journalists at the conference room of DIG under Sonadanga thana in the city on Sunday.

“No one would be spared, if found engaged in crimes or drug abusing, even after he or she is very influential or from any of the political ground,” the DIG said.

Mostafizur Rahman, who joined at Khulna range as DIG on July 07, 2026 further said, “Police are committed to prevent armed robberies, mugging, kidnapping and extorting from everywhere.  With the aim, we both the uniforms and plain clothes have to take some special measures at different key points in the region to resist untoward incidents.

‎Moreover, several mobile teams are patrolling in the Range’s vulnerable areas and have been conducting special raids to nab the criminals.

‎DIG Mostafizur Rahman stressed media can play a key role to uphold democracy and protect human rights. So, journalists should concentrate on presenting objective and credible news.

‎He said people have the right to know the government’s activities and decisions. He stressed the need for freedom of press for safe-guarding democracy in the country.

‎“People’s perceptions of the police have turned negative and we must work to change that.” He stressed that now is the ideal time for police to demonstrate that they are, in fact, friends of the people and represent their aspirations.

‎The journalists and the DIG together promised to help each other to bring the culprits to book and reduce the number of crimes under the 10 (ten) districts of the Range. Journalists from different print and electronic media were present at the views exchange meeting.
