An Awami League leader, who fell into sick in Sirajganj district jail, died at hospital on Thursday, while undergoing treatment.

The deceased was identified as Bablu Mandal, 52, son of Ramzan Ali of Purba Bahuka village and Forest and Environment affairs Secretary of Ratankandi Union Awami League.

Rafiqul Islam, Jail Super in Sirajganj informed that, Bablu was arrested in a case connecting to clash and explosion act after August 5 in 2024. He was sent to district jail on June 22. Later on Wednesday night at around 8:00pm, he fell into sick and was taken to 250 bed general hospital in the town, where he died on Thursday morning during undergoing treatment.
