Bangladesh’s general inflation eased for the second consecutive month to 8.26% in August 2026, down from 8.32% in July, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) today (7 September).

The latest inflation rate was also slightly lower than the 8.29% recorded in August last year.

Food inflation declined to 7.02% in August from 7.16% in July. It stood at 7.60% in August 2025.

Meanwhile, non-food inflation increased to 9.32% in August from 9.28% in July. It was 8.90% in the same month last year.

The latest figures show that the overall inflation rate continued to ease, mainly as food inflation declined, while non-food inflation moved higher both month-on-month and year-on-year.

The August inflation data indicate that price pressures remain stronger in the non-food segment, even as food prices have shown some moderation.
