National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has changed his electoral area, moving from the Dhaka South City Corporation area to Aftabnagar, which falls under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
Asif Mahmud disclosed the information in a post on his verified Facebook account on Monday, September 7.
According to the post, he applied for the change of his electoral area through the Election Commission’s prescribed Form-13. Following the necessary verification process and examination of official documents, the Election Commission approved his application.
Meanwhile, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has also transferred his electoral area—from the Dhaka North City Corporation to the Dhaka South City Corporation. He is now registered as a voter in the Dhaka-8 parliamentary constituency, which falls under the Dhaka South City Corporation.
Previously, Nasiruddin was registered as a voter in the Uttara area under Dhaka North City Corporation. He recently applied for the transfer through the Election Commission’s prescribed Form-13.
The transfer of voter registration areas by Asif Mahmud and Nasiruddin Patwary has sparked discussions in political circles. A section of NCP leaders and activists believes that the two leaders may contest the upcoming city corporation elections for mayoral positions.
Earlier, it was reported that the NCP was considering nominating Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan as its candidate for the mayoral election in Dhaka South City Corporation. However, party sources suggest that the decision may now change.
If so, Asif Mahmud may contest the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral election, while Nasiruddin Patwary could be nominated as a candidate in the south.
However, the NCP has not yet made any official announcement regarding the matter.
