Nine more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 130 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 1,571 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 45,475 in 2026.

Among the fatalities, which included five men and four women, three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two each in Dhaka and Khulna divisions, and one each in Barishal and Mymensingh divisions, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 142 patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 177 in Chattogram division, 408 in Dhaka division, 196 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 134 under DSCC, 242 in Khulna division, 77 in Mymensingh division, 116 in Rajshahi division, 71 in Rangpur division, and eight in Sylhet division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 62.2% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.8%.

According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.

The previous year (2023) saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
