Bidisha Siddique, former wife of late President Hussain Muhammad Ershad, was released on bail from Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail on Tuesday (September 8), two weeks after her arrest in a fraud case.

She walked out of the prison in Gazipur at 5:12 PM after authorities verified her bail documents, confirmed Jailer Mst Aliva Sharmin. Her bail papers arrived at the prison on Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Bidisha from a restaurant in Gulshan, Dhaka, on the night of 25 August following her two-year conviction in a fraud case. A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court rejected her bail application the following day and sent her to prison, where she remained until her release on Tuesday.
