A team of police recovered a revolver and three rounds of ammunitions from Kazipur in Sirajganj. During the drive police also arrested a man in connection with the incident.

Police said, police arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as Md Nasim Hossain, along with a revolver, three rounds of live ammunition, and a motorcycle during a drive in Kazipur Upazila of Sirajganj. An accomplice managed to flee the scene during the operation.

The arrestee, Nasim, is the son of Md Shafiqul Islam and Najma Khatun from Kuralia village in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.

Sirajganj Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Najran Rauf disclosed the details during a press briefing on Monday.

According to the police official, a Kazipur Police team was conducting an anti-narcotics, arms recovery, and warrant execution drive in the Simanta Bazar area. Around 12:30 AM on Monday, officers set up a security checkpoint on the road in the Simanta Bazar area under Gandhail Union.

At approximately 1:40 AM, police signaled a suspicious motorcycle carrying two riders to stop. Upon being signaled, the pillion rider jumped off the vehicle and fled the scene. Officers then detained the rider, Nasim.

During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered a nine-inch revolver tucked into the left side of Nasim’s jeans waistband. The word “BARMA” was engraved on the left side of the barrel. Additionally, three live rounds were found loaded in the cylinder of the firearm.

Police also seized the Yamaha FZ-S Version 3.0 motorcycle used by the duo.

A case has been filed against Nasim and the absconding suspect at Kazipur Police Station under Sections 19(a) and 19(f) of the Arms Act, 1878. Drives are ongoing to arrest the fleeing individual, police said.
