A court in Sirajganj on Thursday granted bail to six persons including five presiding officers, who were arrested by DB police for holding a “secret meeting” with some supporters of an upazila chairman candidate in Sirajganj Sadar upazila. Mohammad Billal Hossain, Judge of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Sirajganj granted the bail. The accused, who secured the bail are: Assistant Professor of Jamuna Degree College Sirajul Islam, Principal of SB Rail Colony School and College Ashraful Islam, Lecturer of Police Lines School and College Abu Shayma, Lecturer of Bahuka College Bachchu Kumar Ghosh, Principal Officer of Janata Bank Zonal Office Yasir Arafat and President of District Teachers’ Association and Assistant Teacher of Shialkhol Government Primary School Aminul Islam. Detective Branch of police on Sunday night arrested six persons including five presiding officers for holding “secret meeting” with a candidate’s supporters in a bid to manipulate the polls.
