Bandarban Correspondent:

A construction worker was killed and seven others were injured in a road accident at Lama upazila in Bandarban district on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place around 11am at Badarthila area under Faythong union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Jahangir, 22, hailed from Harbang Lalbridge area under Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

According to locals, the driver of the pickup van, carrying 15 workers, lost control over the steering of the vehicle when he was climbing a hill and overturned on the road, leaving Jahangir dead on the spot and seven others critically injured.

However, the details about the injured persons could not be known immediately. The injured were recued and taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Confirming the matter, Faythong Police Station in-charge Md Mafiz said on information, police have visited the area and recovered the body from the spot.

The process to send the body to Bandarban Sadar Hospital was underway, added the police official.
