Actor, producer and businessman Ananta Jalil has decided to take a break from films due to a severe crisis in his garment business.

Speaking to the media, he said his factory operations have suffered a major setback.

Ananta Jalil’s factory in Savar, where around 12,000 workers were once employed, has now reduced its workforce to only about 4,000. In this situation, he is focusing entirely on stabilising his business.

“I am not thinking about acting at all right now. I can’t even complete my pending film work,” Ananta Jalil said.

“Even when I did films, I was never crazy about acting. I have a business mindset, and during shoots I always thought about business. Until my business is in a good position, it would not be right for me to work in films.”

He added, “Whenever there is a crisis, I give full attention to overcoming it. That is my nature. If we don’t address this properly now, the situation could become even more difficult in the future.”

Ananta Jalil began his film career in 2008 as a producer and actor. Since then, his wife, actress Barsha, has appeared alongside him in every film. “Whenever I do a film, we will do it together. If not, neither of us will work,” he said. “This is not our profession; we act as a hobby.”

Currently, two of his films “Netri: The Leader” and “Operation Jackpot” were in the shooting stage. In addition, work on Masud Rana’s series “Cheetah” under the banner of Jazz Multimedia has yet to begin.

Commenting on the future of these projects, Ananta Jalil said, “If the right time comes, I will do them. Otherwise, I won’t.”
