Entertainment Desk:
The story revolves around the bitter rivalry between two upazila chairmen, one in office and the other a former holder of the post, as both vie for nomination in the upcoming elections. What begins as a political power struggle soon draws in the next generation, with the son of one chairman and the daughter of the other becoming entangled in the conflict.
Yash Rohan and Nazneen Niha play the two young leads in the political romantic thriller, titled ‘Jonom Jonome’. The drama is written by Raihan Mahmud and directed by Taufiqul Islam, with production by Md Taufiqul Islam under the banner of CMV. The cast also includes Fazlur Rahman Babu, Lutfor Rahman George, Shatabdi Wadud, Mili Bashar and Pauline in key roles.
Director Taufiqul Islam has chosen to keep plot details under wraps. “As this is a political romantic thriller, I do not want to reveal much in advance,” he said. “What I can say is that the story will surprise viewers. This is politics, after all. The actors have portrayed their characters brilliantly and I am grateful to CMV.”
The narrative opens with current upazila chairman Altaf Hossain and former chairman Motaleb Mia living under the same roof, sharing a relationship marked by both tension and familiarity. Both men are determined to secure party nomination for the next election. Altaf’s daughter Nidra enters politics after completing her studies, while Motaleb’s son Pulak is already active in his father’s political circle. Their relationship is openly hostile, with both leading rival groups.
Frustrated by the ongoing feud, local residents turn to Fazlur Rahman, a respected non-political figure regarded as the moral guardian of the area. Both chairmen hold him in high regard, and it is from this intervention that the central conflict of Jonom Jonome truly unfolds.
Producer SK Shahed Ali Pappu said the drama will be released on CMV’s YouTube channel ahead of the upcoming national elections. “The story has no connection to national politics,” he said. “It is essentially a rural love story. However, since elections form part of the backdrop, this felt like the right time to release it. I hope audiences connect with the story.”
