Say no to drugs…!

An anti-drug discussion meeting was held at Victoria High School in Sirajganj town on Thursday with the slogan ‘Let’s hold the pen leaving addiction and build a drug-free Bangladesh’.

Sirajganj District Unit of the Department of Narcotics Control arranged the programme at around 11:00 am with Md. Sajedul Islam, Headmaster of the school in the chair.

Afsar Ali, incumbent District Education Officer and also Headmaster of Saleha Ishak Government School in the town attended the program as chief guest, while Mohammad Ruhul Amin, DD of the Narcotics Control Department, its Assistant Prosecutor Mehedi Hasan and Inspector Emdadul Haque Khan among others spoke on the occasion.

Besides, the Assistant Headmaster of the school Md. Shafiul Alam, Senior teacher Mirza Golam Mostafa, Md. Saiful Islam, Parveen Khatun, Jiasmin Sultana, Achinta Kumar Mondal, Assistant Teachers Shamim Hossain, Shiuli Khatun, Sanjida Khatun and students of IX and X classes of the school were also present in the event.

Several reasons behind the drug addiction of students were also revealed in the discussion with the view to make awareness to the students and their guardians. Participants of the programme asked the students not to take drugs and requested to raise their voice against it as it is injurious to the health.
