As part of the ongoing movement against quota for government jobs, students have blocked railway tracks in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area. The capital’s rail communication with the rest of the country snapped due to the blockade on railways from 2:00pm Tuesday.
Dhaka Divisional Railway Manager of Bangladesh Railway Mohammad Sofiqur Rahman has confirmed the matter.
Sources say around noon, the students of Government Titumir College, BAF Shaheen College, Southeast University and other educational institutions started gathering at Mohakhali.
As they took up positions on the Mohakhali railway tracks, the movement of inbound and outbound trains halted. Two trains are stuck on both sides of the Mohakhali railway tracks till the filing of this report.
