Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam guided Rangpur Riders to their first victory in BPL 2024 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. Batting first Sylhet Strikers post 120/8. In reply, Rangpur Riders chased it down losing 6 wickets in 18.2 overs.

Chasing the pony target Rangpur Riders reduced to 39/6. From here, Babar Azam and Azmatullah Omarzai rebuild the innings for the Rangpur Riders. The duo left the field after confirming victory for their team. Babar remained not out-scoring 56 off 49 and Azmatullah Omarzai scored 47 off 35 not out.

Ragpur played without their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who is out of action due to eye problems.

For Sylhet, Dushan Hemantha made hat-trick 3/20, Nazmul Islam 1/18, Richard Ngarava 1/28 and Tanzim Hasan Sakib /136.

Earlier, Batting first, Syhet Strikers also reduced to 39/5 in 8.2 overs. From here, Benny Howell (37) and Ben Cutting (37) pull out the team to a respectable total of 120/8 in 20 overs.

Hasan Mahmud and Ripon Mondol picked up 2 wickets each for Rangpur Riders while Mohammad Nabi and Hasan Murad took one wicket each.
