The government has transferred and reassigned 23 senior Bangladesh Police officials, including deputy inspector generals (DIGs), in a major reshuffle.
The changes were announced in four separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.
Under one of the notifications, Farida Yasmin, additional DIG of Dhaka Highway Police, has been attached to the office of the DIG of Barishal Range as an additional DIG.
Additional DIG of Highway Police Mir Modasser Hossain has been transferred and appointed additional DIG of the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) in Sardah, Rajshahi.
Mohammad Shahinur Alam Khan, SP of Highway Police and a supernumerary additional DIG, has been transferred to Dhaka Special Branch (SB) as SP and supernumerary additional DIG.
Highway Police SP Md Rezaul Karim has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), while Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) SP Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman has been posted to Highway Police.
APBn SP Dipak Jyoti Khisa has also been transferred to Highway Police as SP, while RAB Additional DIG Md Saleh Uddin has been posted to Highway Police as additional DIG.
New SPs appointed in several districts
In a separate notification, Kushtia SP Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been transferred and appointed SP of Gazipur.
The same notification transferred Gazipur SP Md Sharif Uddin to Highway Police.
Md Amirul Islam, SP at the office of the DIG of Sylhet Range, has been posted as SP of Kushtia.
Narayanganj SP Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi has been transferred to Highway Police, while Khulna SP Mohammad Tajul Islam has been transferred to APBn.
Sarker Omar Faroque, SP of the Police Staff College in Dhaka, has been transferred and appointed SP of Khulna.
Two other notifications announced the transfer and reassignment of 10 more officials holding the ranks of DIG, deputy commissioner of police, SP and special SP to different units of the police.
The latest orders constitute a major reshuffle of senior officials across various units of Bangladesh Police.
