Bangladeshi detained by BSF after illegal border crossing in Thakurgaon

A Bangladeshi was detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) after he illegally crossed the Beurjhari border in Thakurgaon’s Baliadangi upazila on Tuesday night.

The BSF patrol team apprehended the individual, identified as Md Alimul Rahman, 45, son of Dr Rahman from Khulna district, at a location called Borobilla inside Indian territory. Alimul is reportedly mentally unstable.

Following the incident, the Beurjhari Border Outpost (BOP) Commander contacted the 152/Borobilla BSF camp. The BSF confirmed the detention.

Lt Col Tanzir Ahmed, commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said over the phone: “The individual crossed the border into India at night and was detained by the BSF. Efforts are ongoing to bring him back.”
