Detective Branch of Police in Sirajganj has arrested four members of an active highway dacoit gang after conducting drive at different places in the district.

During the drive, police also recovered some native weapons from their possessions.

The arrested are Tusar Hossain, 30, son of Hamidul Islam of Mahmudpur village and Antar Khan, 29, son of Abdul Latif Khan of Raipur Uttarpara in Sirajganj town, Rashedul Islam Ketu, 35, son of Solaiman Mondal of Konabari village in Kamarkhanda upazila and Abdur Rahim Mondal, 36, son of Manik Mondal of the same area.

The arrested were produced before the court on Wednesday and then they were sent to Jail as three out of the four arrested made confessional statement on section 164.

Nazmul Haque, Sub Inspector of DB police said, a gang of highway dacoits hurled brickbats and stones targeting a Rajshahi bound microbus coming from Dhaka, when it reached to Konabari area under Kamarkhanda upazila at the night on March 9. When the driver stopped the microbus on the highway, the dacoit members snatched valuable goods including cash and mobile phones. A case was lodged with the Jamuna Bridge western police station in this connection.
