BNP Chairperson’s adviser Rozi Kabir passes away

BNP chairperson’s adviser and former member of parliament (MP) Begum Rozi Kabir has passed away. She was 73.

She breathed her last on Wednesday (November 13) at 5am while undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital.

She had been suffering from liver disease for a long time. She leaves behind two sons, two daughters, numerous well-wishers, relatives, and political colleagues.

Idris Ali, a BNP leader from Chattogram, informed that after her body is transported from Dhaka to Chattogram, the schedule for her funeral prayer (Namaj-e-janaza) will be announced.

Begum Rozi Kabir was born into the prominent Zamindar family of Azgar Ali Chowdhury in North Halishahar, Chattogram. She entered politics with the help of her elder brother, Barrister Sultan Ahmed, a former Deputy Speaker and Planning Minister. As an associate of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, she accompanied her on state visits to Thailand, China, India, Sri Lanka, Denmark, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, she served as a representative of Bangladesh at the United Nations General Assembly, BIMSTEC, and SAARC conferences.

In her political career, Begum Rozi Kabir held positions such as President of the BNP Women’s Wing, Chattogram City Committee, Senior Vice President of the Chattogram City BNP, and various roles within the central BNP committee.
