She submits resignation to Speaker following PM Tarique Rahman’s directive
TDS Desk:
BNP reserved-seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Misty has resigned from Parliament following the attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP health centre in Mirpur, Dhaka.
She submitted her resignation letter to Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed on Thursday (1 October), following a directive from Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Misty’s resignation came amid allegations of her involvement in the September 24 attack on the health centre in Mirpur-1.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
The health centre in Mirpur-1 was attacked, vandalised and looted on the night of 24 September. The facility was subsequently demolished.
Misty has denied allegations of involvement in the attack.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday that action would be taken if the investigation found evidence of anyone’s involvement in the attack and vandalism at the Radda centre.
