Calling upon his party’s rank and file to stay aside from acts of repression, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that his party will meet the same consequences faced by Awami League.

“If we follow the footsteps of Awami League, will we be able to stay in the country? We will have to meet the same consequence,” Fakhrul said while addressing a rally at Eidgah ground under Haripur Upazila of Thaugaon on Wednesday noon.

Accusing the Awami League of deliberately building Aynaghar to torture BNP and Jamaat men, Fakhrul said that the fascist and autocratic Hasina-led government killed at least 2,000 people, while many others have lost their hands, legs, and eyes in the recent movement.

He urged his party’s leaders and activists to win people’s support by sunning the path of repression and oppression to safeguard the student-led movement’s achievements.

Sheikh Hasina has unleashed acts of repression on BNP and Jamaat members for the past 16 years, but now, she finds herself in a pitiful situation after being exiled to India, he said.

Sheikh Hasina has been forced to flee the country, while the repressors and oppressors have been sent to jail, Fakhrul said.
