Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the interim government, met with the family of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8.
The meeting took place on Saturday morning at the state guesthouse, Jamuna, with Osman Hadi’s brother Abu Bakar Siddique, sister Masuma, and three Inqilab Mancha leaders—Abdullah Al Jaber, Fatima Tasnim Juma, and Md Borhan Uddin—attending.
The chief adviser assured that the government is taking all measures to ensure Hadi receives the best possible treatment, stating: “The whole country is praying for him. Everyone is making efforts to ensure his best treatment. Considering his condition, if treatment abroad becomes necessary, the government will make arrangements wherever required.”
Hadi’s sister said: “He has loved the country wholeheartedly since childhood. He has always been a revolutionary and enjoys reciting rebellious poetry. He has a ten-month-old child. Hadi is our backbone.”
The chief adviser added: “He has many tasks ahead, he must survive. The July revolutionaries must be protected; otherwise, the country’s independence and sovereignty will be at risk.”
Inqilab Mancha leader Jaber demanded the swift arrest of the attackers, saying: “Many returned home after August 5, but Osman Hadi did not. He lived for the July revolution and worked day and night for it. Investigate how the shooter, previously arrested in a case, was granted bail.”
Fatima Tasnim Juma urged the government to ensure the overall security of the July revolutionaries.
The chief adviser confirmed that the entire network behind the brutal attack will be identified and brought to justice, stating: “Law enforcement is actively working to apprehend the criminals as quickly as possible. Full investigations have already been ordered.”
Also present were Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, Environment, Forest and Climate Adviser Rizwana Hasan, Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman.
It is noted that on Friday afternoon, assailants shot Sharif Osman Hadi in the Box Culvert area of Bijoynagar, Dhaka. Severely injured, he was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. Doctors have stated his condition remains critical.
