Police recovered the crushed body of a newlywed from Konabari Mofiz Morh area, also western side of the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge under Kamarkhanda upazila in Sirajganj district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mukta Khatun, 17, daughter of Altaf Hossain of Faliya village under Purnimaganti union of Ullapara upazila in the district.

According to the sources of victim’s family, Mukta got married off with a man about 15 days ago with the arrangement of their families.

But, she fled the home of her parents along with her philanderer on last Sunday night.

Police said, locals found the body laying roadside and informed the matter to police. Later, the body was recovered and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was lodged with the respective police station in this connection.
