EID HOLIDAYS: Jun 14 train tickets sold out in an hour

The Bangladesh Railway is selling train tickets in advance on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, and for journeys on June 14, the third day of sales is taking place on Tuesday.

The sale of advance tickets for the western zone started at 8am, while ticket sales for the eastern zone would begin at 2pm the same day. However, within an hour of going on sale, tickets for the western zone nearly sold out.

It should be noted that passengers will have to purchase these tickets online.

The advance sale of return tickets centring Eid holidays will start on June 10. Tickets for June 20 to 24 will be sold from June 10 to 14.

Advance tickets for June 20 will be available for purchase on June 10. Tickets for June 21 will be available on June 11. Tickets for June 22 will be available on June 12. Tickets for June 23 will be issued on June 13. And June 24 tickets will be available on June 14.

Railways will run a total of 20 – ten pairs – of special trains in the eastern and western regions to handle the increased pressure of passengers during Eid celebrations. Tickets for these special trains will be sold at station counters.

In this year’s Eid trips, there will be 33,500 seats available in trains leaving Dhaka every day.

Meanwhile, a special “Cattle Train” will be operated from June 12 to 14 to transport sacrificial animals in the western zone of the railway. And in the eastern region, this “Cattle Train” will run on June 12.
