Ex-Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas arrested

The law enforcers in a drive detained former Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas from his own resident at Kamarpara village in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday.

“After his arrest, he was taken to makeshift Army camp at Sirajganj Government Degree College ground in the town for preliminary interrogation on the base of several allegations,” Abdul Barik, Inspector of Belkuchi Model Police Station said.

Later, he was handed over to DB police and a case was lodged against him. DB police sent him to Jail after producing before a court.

It is mentionable that, Abdul Latif Biswas served as Fisheries and Livestock Minister after being elected as Parliament Member for Sirajganj-5 (Belkuchi and Chowhali) constituency. He was deprived of Awami League ticket in 2014 during the national parliament elections. But, he was appointed as Administrator for Sirajganj Zilla Parishad in 2022.

He resigned from the post on November 28, 2023 with the aim to contest in the parliament elections as an independent candidate.
