Former UP Chairman and Union Awami League General Secretary of district Narsingdi was shot and hacked to death by miscreants last night.

Mahbubul Hasan, 40, also former general secretary of Union Chhatra League was son of Amin Uddin, hailed from Bhagirathpur area in Meherpara of the upazila.

The incident took place in front of Baba Textile in Bhagirthpur area of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (May 28).

In this incident, injured Sayeed Hasan Pappu, 38, and Farhad, son of Abdul Malek of Bhagirthpur village were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet wounds.

According to eyewitnesses, Mahbubul was first attacked by cocktail around 12 in the night near Baba Textile in Bhagirthpur area of the district’s upazila. After throwing cocktail when attackers saw associates with Mahbubul running around, in that scope the criminals shot randomly and then hacked to death.

Later, the locals rushed critically injured Mahbubul Hasan to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station Tanveer Ahmed confirmed the matter. He said Narsingdi police is investigating the incident and making effort to arrest the criminals. Police deployed in the area of the incident to maintain law and order situation, the officer added.
