Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) has imposed a lifetime ban on the membership of actress Nipun Akter, an alleged ally of the ousted Awami League fascist government.

The decision was taken Sunday, confirmed BFAA Vice President DA Tayeb on Tuesday.

In last July, Nipun used the pad of the organisation, even though she held to position at the central committee, to issue a controversial statement over the student-led movement against disproportionate quota system.

The following day, she even posted an image of her statement on facebook.

Nipun used the organisation’s pad illegally, and at a separate incident, also made derogatory remarks about BFAA General Secretary Monowar Hossain Dipjol.

Following her unauthorised use of BFAA pad, the central committee showcaused her, but she remained irresponsive, likely due to her ties with influential Awami League politician Haji Selim.

All these acts constitute gross violations of organisational code of conduct, necessitating the termination of all her ties with BFAA.

A few days ago, authorities at Sylhet Osmani International Airport barred Nipun from leaving the country on objections raised by the National Security Intelligence (NSI). Due to the absence of legal complaints against her, airport authorities let her go, following questioning.
