Four advisers given charge of additional ministries; CA’s responsibilities reduced

Four advisers to the interim government have been given charge of several other ministries while Chief Adviser Dr Yunus’s responsibilities have been reduced.

On Tuesday (27 August), the Cabinet Division issued a gazette redistributing the offices of advisers.

Initially, the responsibilities of 27 ministries and departments were placed in the hands of Chief Advisor Dr Yunus.

Later, the chief adviser’s responsibilities were reduced by giving other advisers charge of several ministries and departments.

Now, it has been further reduced. Dr Yunus was last in charge of ten ministries and departments.

Who is in charge of which ministry now

According to the Cabinet’s new decision, six ministries and departments have now been placed in Dr Yunus’ hands.

They are – Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Public Administration, and Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

Besides, Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has been given the responsibility of the Ministries of Finance and Commerce as well as Science and Technology.

Adviser Hasan Arif has been given Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives as well as the Ministry of Land.

Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hussain will now look after the Ministry of Textiles and Jute as well as the Ministry of Shipping.

Social Welfare Adviser Sharmin Murshid will also look after the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
