Four new advisers take oath

More four advisers were sworn in on Friday as members of the advisers’ council of the interim government, led by Nobel Laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office at the Durbar Hall of the Bangabhaban around 4 pm.

The news advisers are Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud, Ali Imam Majumder, incumbent special assistant to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, former secretary Fouzul Kabir Khan, and Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

On 11 August, former ambassador and chairman of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board Suprodip Chakma and former National Institute of Mental Health director Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar took oath.

Earlier on 8 August, 13 out of 17 members of the advisers’ council of the interim government took oath following the fall of Sheikh Hasina government in the face of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

With the four, the total members of the advisory council of the interim government stood at 21.

Hasina resigned and fled to India on August 5.

On that day, the cabinet was dissolved. Later on August 6, the President also dissolved the 12th Jatiya Sangsad.
