Awami League General Secretary ObaidulQuader has said that the government did not invite US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu.

“Donald Lu has come to Bangladesh with his own agenda.”

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said “Donald Lu is not even the foreign minister. Why would Bangladesh make a fuss of him. He has come here out of necessity, they have their agenda.”

He said these responding to a query from journalists at his Secretariat office on Tuesday.

“In a relationship, discussions are held on different aspects of it. They come and go as part of their routine. I do not want to discuss this matter. We did not invite him,” he said.

Quader also referenced previous discussions related to visa policies and sanctions before the elections, highlighting that the stance remains unchanged. “We do not care about any kind of sanctions or visa policies,” Quader declared when asked about the political implications of Lu’s visit.
