At least 672 teachers and employees have been serving in different Government Primary Schools in nine upazilas of Sirajganj district under ‘Freedom Fighter (FF)’ quota. Of them, 668 are serving as teachers and four are office assistant.

The list of teachers and employees, who are serving on FF quota, was produced according to the directive of concerned Primary and Mass Education Department and Ministry.

But, how many teachers and employees out of 672 have been serving with fake certificates of freedom fighter could not be known immediately. The move to verify the certificates would be taken soon, insiders said.

Assistant District Primary Education Officer Biswajit Kumar Shaha told the media, “The list of teachers-employees, who have been serving on FF quota, was sought through a letter signed by Lutfar Rahman, Director (Policy and Operation) of Primary and Mass Education Department in the end of last August.

On the other hand, the list of 3rd and 4th class employees was sought through another letter signed by Dr. Bilkis Begum, Deputy Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Ministry recently.

After receiving the letters, education officers of nine upazilas were given charge for scrutinizing and producing the list.

According to the list provided by the upazila education officers, it was known that, at least 668 people including women have been serving at different educational institutions as teachers, while four others have been serving as 3rd and 4th class employees.

The list of those recruitments has already been sent to the concerned department and ministry.

Besides, process to verify the FF certificates submitted by those teachers and employees are underway. If any allegation over fake FF certificate is found, necessary lawful action would be taken after proper investigation according to the high-ups direction, he added.
