Hearing on quota on Jul 21: AG

Attorney General (AG) AM Amin Uddin on Thursday said that on Sunday (July 21), an appeal will be made for the hearing of the Appellate Division regarding the quota and an attempt will be made to finish the hearing quickly.

He said this in a press conference on Thursday (July 18).

“The door of the court is open for the protestors. They will have the opportunity to address the court themselves or through a lawyer,” said the Attorney General.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Anisul Huq said that “the government is willing to negotiate” with the quota protesters. He said this in an emergency press conference at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) bhaban.

The Law Minister said that initiatives have been taken to bring forward the hearing of the High Court by canceling the High Court’s circular. Besides, the Prime Minister has assigned me and the Education Minister to discuss with the students.

Calling upon the students to withdraw their movement, Anisul Huq said, “We are in favor of quota reform”. When the hearing on quota will be held in court, the Government will file a proposal.

He also said that “a judicial investigation committee” has been formed with High Court judge Khondkar Diliruzzaman in the incident of 6 people killed in clashes in different parts of the country during the students’ movement on Tuesday.
