Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 has preliminarily become able to unveil the mystery of SSC examinee Emon killing incident of Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj district, which was much discussed across the country.
RAB-12 forces in collaboration with RAB-4 arrested its main accused Masud Rana, 15, also classmate of the slain student Emon from West Manikdi area under Cantonment police station in Dhaka on Friday night by conducting a drive.
Earlier on May 9, another accused of the case named Shakib was also arrested by the joint drive of RAB-12 and RAB-1, Atiqur Rahman Mian, Commander of RAB-12 confirmed the matter to media on Friday morning through a press briefing held at the conference room of its office.
It was revealed in the briefing that, Masud Rana engaged in an altercation with Emon on April 14, when he found Emon along with his younger sister at Hosna Market area in the upazila. Masud also teased her (Emon’s sister) raising question over their relationship. Centering the issue, Emon got anger. At one stage, he and his friends slapped Masud and snatched away Tk 3500 from his (Masud) pocket.
To take a revenge of the incident, on the fateful day on April 18, Masud and his friends including Swadhin and Shakib attacked Emon and hits on his head with a stick that left him seriously injured.
Later, Emon was admitted to Kwaza Yunus Ali Medical College Hospital in Enayetpur. As his condition deteriorated further, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on April 25, while undergoing treatment.
On April 27, victim’s father filed a case with Belkuchi police station in this connection. At that time, it was apprehended that, Emon might have been killed by the accused as he (Emon) declined to show his answer sheets to them (accused) during their SSC examination.
