TDS Desk:

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its final candidates for 27 constituencies, with party leaders indicating that the number may increase by at least five more seats as negotiations continue with the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance.

The party also said it is ultimately aiming for around 40 seats.

From last night through this afternoon (18 January), the party shared posters featuring the names and photographs of its candidates on the party’s verified Facebook page.

Speaking to journalists, Mahbub Alam, the party’s joint convener and election media subcommittee chief, said, “At least three more seats are certain to be added. However, our expectation is to secure 40 seats. These will be finalised very soon.”

Another joint convener and party’s Central Election Management Committee member, wishing anonymity, said the NCP was initially allocated 30 seats within the 10-party alliance.

“After Islami Andolan Bangladesh stepped away from the alliance, we increased our demand to 40 seats. But, the number may rise by around five,” the leader added.
