The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has reported an “attack by criminals” near a Bangladesh Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar.
At least one person has reportedly been shot dead at the Samity Para area near the base on Monday afternoon.
In a brief statement, the ISPR said, “Some criminals from Samity Para, adjacent to the Cox’s Bazar Air Force base, launched an attack on the Cox’s Bazar Air Force base. The Bangladesh Air Force is taking the necessary measures in this regard.”
Though the statement did not note any casualties, Ahsan Habib Polash, deputy inspector general of the Chattogram Range of the police, confirmed the death of one person.
“As far as I know, one person was killed by Air Force fire and another person was injured. They took them away in an ambulance,” he said.
