President Mohammed Shahabuddin will cast his vote using a postal ballot. Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

He stated that the President has expressed his intention to vote by postal ballot. Election Commission (EC) is making the necessary arrangements.

EC has created the opportunity of postal voting for expatriates, individuals assigned election duty within the country, members of law enforcement agencies, and prisoners.

A total of 15 lakh 33 thousand citizens have registered on the “Postal Vote BD” app to vote by postal ballot from within the country and abroad.

As part of the postal voting process, once registered on the app, the EC sends the ballot by post. After casting the vote, the voter submits it to the nearest post office, from where it is sent to the relevant constituency’s Returning Officer.

The parliamentary election and referendum are scheduled to be held on 12 February.
