A press conference was held at Belkuchi Press Club on Thursday morning demanding recover of grabbed land owned by a speech impaired man and his brother in Mukundagati village of the upazila.

Mozammel Haque, elder brother of speech impaired Monirul Islam in a written statement revealed that, he and his brother (Monirul Islam) sold 18 decimal of their paternal land to Zulhas Uddin of the Mukundagati village few days ago. But, Zulhas Uddin applying his political and muscle power grabbed more 23 decimals of land forcibly from their possessions.

On January 24 last, Zulhas and his men equipped with lethal weapons stormed at the land illegally and injured Monirul and Mozammel by conducting attack.

Hearing the screaming of the injured, locals rushed to the spot and rescued them in critical condition. Later, they were admitted to Belkuchi Health Complex. A case was also lodged with the Belkuchi police station in this connection.

But, police did not take any action so far. In contrary, the attackers continue to threatening them for withdrawal of the case. In this circumstance, the victims are facing insecurity over their lives. Finding no way, they appeared before the media men seeking help, Mozammel complained.

When this correspondent contacted with Jakaria Hossain, Officer in Charge of Belkuchi police station, over cell phone on Thursday, he said, “We have received an allegation in this connection. Action would be taken against the guilt persons after investigation.”
