Staff Correspondent:Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Sunday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 50.75 points or 0.81 percent to 6,215.24. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 19.51 points to finish at 2,180.40 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 15.32 points to close at 1,348.86.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, remained low and amounted to Tk 4,228.89 million, which was Tk 5,521.37 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 309 issues traded, 68 declined, 20 advanced and 221 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Pragati Life was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.96 percent gain while NAVANAPHAR was the worst loser, losing 10 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 48.88 points to settle at 18,444.11 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX shedding 29.43 points to close at 11,052.20.
Of the issues traded, 36 declined, 27 advanced and 89 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 19.62 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Tk 9.54 crore.
