TDS Desk:
The country has been in turmoil for the past two weeks due to student protests demanding reform of the government job quota system. Clashes have erupted between students and the ruling party’s student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League, as well as police, in Dhaka and other parts of the country, leaving six dead and hundreds injured or shot.
In response, the government has announced the closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities. Although students from different universities have been ordered to vacate their residential halls, they have vowed to continue their protests by staying on the campuses. To control the situation, the government has deployed additional police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in different universities and district towns.
