House of Mannan Charitable Trust has distributed various materials including sewing machines to a helpless family in Raiganj Upazila of Sirajganj to make the family members self-reliant.

This assistance programme was held on Saturday morning in Tabari Para village under ​​Chandaikona Union of the upazila.

At that time, a sewing machine, two goats, four ducks and four chickens were handed over to the family of Rafiqul Islam, who got paralyzed by an accident. The materials were provided by Shahbaz Khan Sunny, founder of ‘Pracheshta Sabhar Janno Manabik Sanghatan’. Earlier, Rafiqul Islam was given a wheelchair by the same organization.

Rafiqul Islam is a resident of Tabari Para area of ​​Chandaikona Union. About six months ago, he lost both his legs in a road accident. Since then, the family, along with his wife, son and daughter, had been living in extreme financial hardship. When the family’s humanitarian crisis was published in various media outlets, it came to the attention of the concerned humanitarian organizations. Later, an initiative was taken to stand by the family with the funding of the House of Mannan Charitable Trust.

Rafiqul Islam and his family members expressed gratitude for receiving the assistance. They said that, the materials received will be helpful in income-generating activities and will help the family gradually become self-reliant.
