A 45-year-old primary schoolteacher was killed on Sunday morning after being run over by a sand-laden truck in Ullapara, Sirajganj.

The deceased was identified as Mosharaf Hossain, an assistant teacher at Suja Government Primary School in Mohanpur Union under Ullapara Upazila, and son of Saiful Islam from Kaliakair village.

The accident occurred around 7:30 AM on the Shyamolipara-Mohanpur regional road near the Westpara Bridge in Ullapara municipality.

According to Mehdi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ullapara Model Police Station, Mosharaf Hossain was riding his motorcycle from his rented residence in the Jhikira area to his school. When he reached the bridge area near Gasline Hat, a sand-laden truck attempting to overtake him ran over his motorcycle. He died on the spot.

Upon receiving the news, police recovered the body with the assistance of local residents. While law enforcement seized the truck involved in the incident, both the driver and his helper fled the scene.

Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway, the OC confirmed.
