Md. Aminul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Sirajganj said, “Say no to drugs and build a drug-free society to develop our next generation for strong leadership. This is why, we all including families, educational institutions, social organizations and law enforcement agencies must work together to protect our youths from the deadly clutches of drugs.”
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) came up with the remarks while addressing as the chief guest in a discussion and view exchange meeting held at the Officers’ Club nearby DC office in the town on Saturday (June 27) marking the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’.
He said, “In compliance with the government ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy against drugs abusing and trafficking, Sirajganj district administration in collaboration with police administration and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) is working to implement the strategy strictly. To pave the way for the country’s promising and bright future and maintain economic growth, our children especially youths must be kept away from drug abusing. If it is possible, we will get a drug free country in future. Otherwise, our future will be destroyed due to onslaught of drugs.”
Saiful Islam Santu, Superintendent of Police in Sirajganj, who attended the programme as special guest, said, “Drugs enter into the country regularly using various borders deceiving the eyes of law enforcers. Then, drug traders supply those to different destinations by various means. To stop this crime and protect our next generation, everyone must come forward and work alongside law enforcement agencies. Eradicating drugs from our society is not only the job of the administration and law enforcement agencies, but also the moral responsibility of all people in the society.”
The programme was jointly organized by the district administration and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) with the Additional District Magistrate Md Zahurul Islam in the chair.
Md. Nazrul Islam, Assistant Director of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Sirajganj, Md. Shariful Islam, Station Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense, and Saidur Rahman Bachchu, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry among others were present at the event.
At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among the winner students, who had been participated several anti-drug competitions.
Earlier this, the event was inaugurated by releasing balloons and festoons in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
