Six from two families killed in Cox’s Bazar landslides

Six people from two families, including a woman and her two children, died in separate landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Cox’s Bazar early Friday morning.

A landslide occurred in the Dikkul area of Jhilongjha Union in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila around 2:00am.

Additional District Magistrate of Cox’s Bazar Ataul Goni Osmani confirmed the incident.

The deceased were identified as Akhi Moni, wife of Mizanur Rahman from South Dikkul, and their two daughters, Miha Jannat Naima and Latifa Islam.

Another landslide took place at the Ukhiya Rohingya camp, specifically in Hakimpur Camp-14, at 4:00am.

Shamsud Doza Nayan, Additional Commissioner of the Cox’s Bazar Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Office, confirmed this incident as well.

The deceased were Abdul Rahim, son of Kabir Ahmed from E-2 Block of Rohingya Camp-14, along with Abdul Hafiz and Abdul Wahed.

Ataul Goni Osmani also reported that a total of six people had died due to the landslides in the district. Of them, three were Bangladeshis, and three were Rohingyas.
