Allegation of stealing over Tk 29 lakh from IFIC Bank’s Matidali sub-branch in Bogura has been intensified disappointing hundreds of its clients just before holidays of Eid-ul-Azha, also the second largest festival of Muslims.

Though, officials of the bank claimed that the money was stolen by breaking the chest, clients of the banks even police are getting smells of different thing in this regard, they said.

The mysterious incident took place early Thursday (late night of Wednesday), just before the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

Quoting the bank officials, Saihan Waliullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogura Kotowali Thana said that, there was no security guard in the bank’s branch. The concerned officials left the bank’s office on Wednesday afternoon usually like previous time. But, they found that the vault is vacant, while they opened the bank on Thursday morning. Later, they informed the matter to police.

On information, police rushed to the spot and came to know that the mentioned amount of money was stolen by breaking the vault.

The officials claimed that, miscreants entered into the bank early Thursday by cutting the gate of rooftop at the two storied building. Then they took away the money after breaking the vault of the bank.

A case was lodged with the respective police station in this connection. Investigation is still underway, said the OC.

It is to be mentioned that, another theft of Tk 9 lakh took place after breaking the vault of NRBC Bank sub-branch at Pallimangal Haat in Bogura Sadar Upazila on January 26.
