Two video clips have circulated on social media showing the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8. The videos show that he was shot at very close range.

The incident took place on Friday after Jummah prayers in the Box Culvert area of Bijoynagar in the capital city Dhaka.

Hadi was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital around 2:35pm.

One CCTV footage from a nearby building shows the sound of gunshots around 2:20pm. A few seconds later, a motorcycle is seen speeding away along the road, causing panic among nearby residents.

Another CCTV clip shows Hadi traveling in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw when a motorcycle approaches from behind. As it moves alongside the rickshaw, the pillion rider fires at Hadi, then quickly flees the scene.

The area has now been cordoned off by RAB, police, and DB officials, who are collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, Dr Mostak Ahmed, resident surgeon at the emergency department of DMCH, said that Hadi was in critical condition when brought to the emergency department. He received CPR and his blood pressure has now stabilised slightly. However, a bullet remains lodged in his head, and he was shot near the ear.
