Why Aziz, Benazir not being arrested yet, asks Manna

Why are not former army chief Aziz Ahmed and former IGP Benazir Ahmed being arrested yet, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna has asked.

He raised the question while speaking at a rally in the capital on Wednesday (May 29) afternoon.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna said if the BNP convenes a rally at its central office premises in the afternoon demanding Begum Khaleda Zia’s release, hundreds of people throng there. Please hold rallies, form human-chains. “I urge you all to take to the street demanding why Aziz or Benazir has not been arrested yet and they have not been sued yet.”

Manna said, “Counting of your days has already started. Complain has been lodged with the United Nations (UN).

UN representative said, “You’re bringing army, police and other officers for the peace-keeping forces and providing them job. But, they are committing crimes against humanity in their own country.”

The rally was held in front of the Press Club to press home the demands of releasing the party leaders and workers including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Dhaka City South member Ishraq Hossain.

With the  organisation’s president KM Rakibul Islam Ripon in the chair, the rally was also addressed by Gana Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Huq Nur, AB Party’s member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju, JAGPA vice-president Rashed Prodhan, BNP Chairperson’s advisiory council member Abdus Salam, executive committee member Arpona Roy and Moulana Shah Nesarul Huq, among others.
