Woman trampled while going out to see elephant

A 60-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant, while she went out to see the elephant, in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Tahera Begum, wife of Sultan Ahmed of the area.

The incident took place in Dulahazara union of the upazila around 10:00 pm, according to media reports.

Quoting locals, a Forest officer told the media Tahera came out of her house to see the elephant who coming to the inhabited area from the neighboring hill.

As soon as Tahera reached the road, she fell in front of the wild elephant. At this time, the elephant grabbed her with its trunk and crushed her under its feet.
