No one, including law enforcement officials, will be spared in Operation Devil Hunt, said Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

“Both high-profile figures and small-time offenders will be caught. Those who are evil will be taken down by the operation. Even [guilty] law enforcement officials will not be excluded,” he told journalists following a meeting on law and order in Rajshahi on Monday (February 10).

He said the operation will continue until the country is free from devils.

“To ensure that no innocent person is punished, multiple committees have been formed,” he said.

He also assured that the supply of essential Ramadan commodities, such as chickpeas and dates, will be stable, and that there was no fertiliser shortage in the country.

However, he warned that legal action would be taken against dealers creating an artificial crisis.

Regarding the situation at the India-Bangladesh border, the adviser praised the role of the people of Chapainawabganj in resisting Indian aggression, but urged them not to take the law into their own hands.

Senior officials from the police, army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were present at the meeting.
