A road rage conflict led to the death of a young auto-rickshaw driver at Morrelganjupazila in Bagerhat district on Monday night.
The killing took place around 8pm in the Amtala area of the upazila.
The victim, Al Imran Khan, 25, was involved in a minor traffic collision when his battery-operated auto-rickshaw was struck by a rickshaw-van. The altercation escalated when the van’s driver, identified only as Nayeem, reportedly stabbed Imran in a fit of anger.
Following the collision, an argument broke out which tragically led to the stabbing, Mohammad Shamsuddin, the officer-in-charge of Morrelganj Police Station, detailed.
Witnesses at the scene promptly intervened, rushing Imran to Bagerhat District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The assailant fled the scene but was apprehended by police on early Tuesday. Police have arrested Nayeem alias Fahad, 18, added the OC.
