Seven more children have died with suspected measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,031 new cases of confirmed and suspected measles were reported during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest measles situation report, released by the DGHS on Sunday afternoon, said the seven deaths were among children with suspected measles symptoms. No deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported during the past 24 hours.
Since 15 March, a total of 645 children have died with suspected measles symptoms, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles infections. Altogether, 738 children have died from confirmed or suspected measles during the period.
The report said 106 children were newly confirmed with measles over the past 24 hours, while 925 patients were identified as suspected measles cases.
During the same period, 878 patients were admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 904 patients were discharged after recovery.
According to DGHS data, Bangladesh has recorded 105,618 suspected measles cases and 12,632 confirmed cases since 15 March.
A total of 88,844 patients have been hospitalised during the outbreak, of whom 85,122 have already been discharged after receiving treatment, the report added.
